Aliens of the Deep

EDT teamed up with Cameron’s Earthship Productions for yet another ground-breaking 3-D IMAX cinematic adventure for Disney called Aliens of the Deep. The EDT Ares together with Russian Vessel ‘Keldish’ embarked on a series of expeditions to deep ocean hydrothermal vents, where super-heated mineral-charged water gives life to some of the strangest animals on earth.

Two Deep Water ROV submersibles from EDT Ares together with two Russian Mir submersibles travelled down to a depth of 900m over vent sites on the Mid Atlantic ridge. The final product is an adventure that brings the audience face-to-face with what it might be like to travel far into space and encounter life in other worlds!
